We all see it, and we all get annoyed by it. Yes is everyones eyes the football team, the Basketball team, and the Lacrosse teams in our school get all the attention form administration. "The football team this, the football team that." News flash, yes we have an alright football team, but what about every other team in the school, why don't we care too much about them? Why can the fooball players get away with so much more than anyone else in this school?
Its not just me who sees this, its everyone. In an interview with cross county caption Emily Amide she says "cross cournty is a sport too, by why can't we get the attention thqt football gets. We are just as good." I completely agree Em. At my school, Tantasqua we got two new turf fields. Our Principal Mr. Lucas had an interview with our schools weekly news channel, TWN said "We should be able to host home games as of October 1st" http://tantasquavideo.weebly.com/twn-shows-semester-1-school-year-2016---2017.html This statement was completely false. Me being on the girls soccer team saw that the field was ready heard that the field was ready, but because administration wanted to open the new field with a football game, we the soccer team had to play on our awful grass fields while during our game football got to practice in the stadium. Why is this? This isn't how athletics should be ran. Okay you want to say that you couldn't open it to public but conveniently we are able to open it to the public on the footballs teams first game. Ok so what if you wanted our football team to open up the new field, I guess I would expect nothing more nothing less, but even with the practice schedule, they should have made it more fair with the time each team got to practice on the turf. Football was allowed to practice on the field every day since the fields where cleared to play on where as the soccer and field hockey teams not only got maybe one or two days to practice on the field, but also had to share the field with each other the majority of the time. We are all about a fair world where everyone gets equal chances, clearly not at Tantasqua. everyone rants and raves about the football team, BUT THEYGOT KICKED OUT OF DISTRICS FIRST ROUND! As of right now November 7th the Tantasqua girls soccer team is the only team left in districts. I bet if we weren't the only team left no one in Tantsasqua would even know that we were in districts. Our golf team made it to state, but no one knew about it until after when there coach actually had to send in a letter to be put on announcements saying the results of the matches. Going back to out turf fields, the girls soccer team was the first team to play on the cage field, all of administration came. But little did we know, they only stayed until a guard came to make sure that nothing went wrong before he came. They only came to publicize that the new field was open. If it was football they would have stayed for the entire game, but no because it was a different team they couldn't stay.
Luckily at my school the football players aren't that rude to other, but there are some who are, usually the freshmen. But our seniors really put them in place if they are rude. People say it the kids who make it all about football, wrong.... Its usually all administration here.
