High School Movies

How many of you thought high school was going to be just like Mean Girls, Clueless, or The Duff? I bet more than half of you. But was/is high school like that. I know that the minute I stepped into high school I thought the seniors where going to be mean to us and that all these popular pretty girls where going to judge me. I was wrong. The minute I stepped into high school, the majority of people where super nice to me. All I could think was "why would I think high school would be so bad?" I know why, its because I watched the movies like Mean Girls, Clueless and The Duff which portrayed high school to be so much worse than what it seemed to be. They made it look like all that mattered was being pretty, rich and popular, but it really didn't matter. The movies you watch growing up affects how you think your life will turn out. Lets be honest we all want to meet our prince charming and live happily ever after, but its not that easy. Yes in high school you might hit those rough patches where there could be the occasional mean girl, or you could be called the "duff." But its how you handle it when you get to that patch or you get called that name. You can revolt by trying to act like them and end up losing yourself like Lindsey Lohan did in Mean Girls, or you can embrace it like Mae Whitman did in The Duff. Don't pull a Lindsey Lohan, be a Mae Whitman and don't let other people in high school define you. BE YOURSELF in high school! Don't let movies change your prospective on how high school is, because it really isn't that bad.

Sports Drama

Sports.... Probably the biggest thing that defines you in high school. Are you an athlete or not? Most of you are wondering, why are we on a drama blog reading about sports? But what most of you don't know is that the thing that happen before you step on the field really affects the way you perform on the field. Me being an athlete I know that the things, the drama that happens before a game or even before practice effects my performance. Although different athletes might feel differently and might feel that once they step on that field everything just goes away, not for me. It doesn't even have to be school drama related, it can even be a family issue and it will effect me. Yesterday September 22,2016 for example I got in a fight with my mom, and even though I only had practice it effected my performance, and my coach could really tell. But I have a good relationship with my coach, what if it wasn't me? Would he be able to tell that something went wrong with a player? and did it affect there performance? These are all questions I hope to answer this week! Also what goes through the players mind as they are playing and something dramatic happened to them that day? Can other athletes brush it off or does it stay with them? I want to know do sports teams have drama of there own? On my sports team there are many cliques that sometimes make others feel like they aren't good enough, we are a team but with these cliques they cause drama. Wow! what a comparison. I know that with the different cliques on my team they make some of us feel like we aren't good enough and when they don't include some people, it causes drama. I don't know maybe its only with girls sports.... or is it with all sports?

Clique interviews

Thursday September 15,2016

Today I interviewed senior varsity cheerleader Alli O! I asked her a variety of questions about cliques, and here's what she said...

Kensie: "Alli, do you think our school has cliques?"

Alli: "yes we do have cliques in our school"

Kensie: What cliques do we have in our school?"

Alli: " we have town cliques like Brimfield, Sturbridge, Holland, Wales, Brookfield, we have hick cliques, sports teams cliques, smart kids cliques, preppy kids, and tech kids."

Kensie: "Do different grades have different cliques?"

Alli: " Yes, its like every other year they have the same but different cliques. The seniors and sophmores and the Juniors and the freshmen just have similar cliques, and it just switches off."

Kensie: " Do you think the cliques you where in in high school will affect you in a long run?"

Alli: "No but yes at the same time. The drama and bad things that happened, ill forget about. But I know that the people who are in my clique will be in my life forever."

Kensie: " How do you portray the cliques in our school?'

Alli: " The cliques are defined, but not exclusive."

Kensie: " How do other cliques make you feel?"

Alli: " Other cliques really define something's I do in school. If some people are at an event that I want to attend and I don't really like them, then I won't show up at that event."

Thanks Alli for your input!

Thursday September 22, 2016

Today I interviewed Zach Kelly, a junior band member and student council representative. I asked him a series of questions just like Alli's about the cliques in our school, lets hear what he said....

Kensie: "Zach, do you think our school has cliques?"

Zach: "yes!"

Kensie: What cliques do we have in our school?"

Zach: "popular girls and guys"

Kensie: "Do different grades have different cliques?"

Zach: "yes there are popular guys and popular girls in every grade"

Kensie: "Do you think the cliques you where in in high school will affect you in a long run?"

Zach: "no, I really don't consider myself in a clique, I just have my friends but we aren't defined"

Kensie: " How do you portray the cliques in our school?"

Zach: "everyone has a different personality, some are mean some are not. It depends on the day on how I would portray them."

Kensie: " How do other cliques make you feel?"

Zach: "I don't really care for them."

Thanks Zach!

Thursday September 22, 2016

Along with interviewing Zach I also interviewed junior Victoria Miles. Asking the same questions as Alli and Zach lets see what Victoria thinks.....

Kensie: "Victoria, do you think our school has cliques?"

Victoria: " Yes"

Kensie: "What cliques do we have in our school?"

Victoria: "Athletes, show choir, cheerleaders and smarites."

Kensie: "Do different grades have different cliques?"

Victoria: "Not so much with grades as to the different athletic groups we have in the school as a unit."

Kensie: "Do you think the cliques you where in in high school will affect you in a long run?"

Victoria: "Yes, it will affect you personality. If you hung out with mean girls in high school them you are most likely to have a poor attitude. But if you are well rounded them it would make you a better person."

Kensie: " How do you portray the cliques in our school?"

Victoria: "Athletes= superior, Smarties= overlooked. Our school cares about athletics way more than anything else."

Kensie: " How do other cliques make you feel?"

Victoria: "Any clique could make anyone feel that something's wrong will them and make them feel self conscious because your not in with them."

Thanks so much Alli, Zach and Victoria!!
